The cover for the jazz album “Duets” portrays feelings of melancholy and reflection, but also hope and joy. The brushstrokes gently guide the eye to the title and then around the cover, evoking the feeling of movement and sound. The cool and warm colours serve to visualize the opposition of death and life, sadness and joy, pain and growth. Organic shapes show movement and emphasize beauty in imperfections – the yellow lines being an abstraction of musical sound waves. By using fewer and more abstract elements, the cover creates an atmospheric space without distractions for the music to inspire vulnerability and introspection.
